Reaction to Franz Josef Glacier Guides was far from icy last night when it picked up the prestigious title of ‘Best Visitor Attraction – New Zealand’ for the fourth time in a row.
The popular South Island tourism experience cemented its position as a ‘must-do’ New Zealand attraction at the 11th annual TNT Golden Backpack Awards 2017, held on the Gold Coast in Australia.
Franz Josef Glacier Guides is an internationally recognised guiding operation that prides itself on providing the most incredible glacier experiences – from glacier hiking to climbing ice walls.
Business Manager Craig Buckland was thrilled to once again take home the ‘Best Visitor Attraction – New Zealand’ award. He said it was a testament to the team’s commitment to providing an exceptional experience for all visitors.
"The competition we were up against was of an exceptionally high level. It’s a real honour to be nominated alongside some incredible operators, and we are stoked. "Our team works really hard to provide a seamless and unforgettable experience for our guests while working with changing glaciers and wild West Coast weather. "It’s always amazing and rewarding to hear that visitors are loving what we do."
The TNT Golden Backpack Awards are the original and most established awards dedicated to the independent travel sector. The awards highlight the best of the best across Australia and New Zealand, with backpackers from across the world asked to vote for their favourite hostel, tour and activity. As well as the consumer vote, each nominee received a ‘secret shopper’ review and was judged on the quality of its application.
Franz Josef Glacier Guides offers epic glacier experiences for visitors, including the world-famous heli hike. It is part of Ngāi Tahu Tourism, which hosts over one million visitors a year across 11 tourism experiences in New Zealand.
