True South Flights + Heli Hike

The ultimate day of adventure and adrenaline from Queenstown.

Begin a day filled with spectacular scenery, with a one-hour fixed-wing flight from Queenstown to Franz Josef Glacier. You will fly over the Southern Alps, home to over 3000 small glaciers, to Franz Josef Glacier on the western face of Aoraki/ Mt Cook.

On arrival into Franz Josef, we will accompany you to your check in for your heli hike, where our experienced team will provide you with exclusive access to the glacier via a scenic helicopter flight, passing over deep crevasses, icefalls and waterfalls to land at the upper glacier. Here, you will be fitted with crampons for the two and a half hours on the glacier, exploring ice caves and seeing the natural, ever-changing wonders of the South Island’s glaciers.

A minimum of four passengers is required for this tour, however if you are travelling solo, please contact us as we may be able to accommodate you with another group.

60-minute flights between Queenstown and Franz Josef Glacier township, taking a different route back via Mt. Aspiring, if weather conditions permit
